The first date is almost the most important meeting that you will have with the other person. It is the date when you can make or break the opportunity for a second, third..... dates. Hence it is crucial that you make upon a good impression on the first date.
Appearance
Almost be neat and presentable. You may not have the supermodel physique and look but that is secondary. Most of us are not really looking for babes and hunks as our partners, though having them will be a bonus! What we want is someone whom we can relate to. As long as you look pleasing to others, half the battle is won!
Ladies
1. Put on light make up as it will enhance your appearance. You do not want to appear listless (banish those dark eye rings!) or swallow (eeek! That uneven skin tone!). Minimum will be to apply some foundation for a flawless looking complexion and some lipgloss for a shimmering lips. Enhance your eyes with mascara for the batting for the window of your soul. Remember that the eyes is the window of your soul.
2. Spray on light floral perfume for a lingering sweet scent.
Gentlemen
1. Make sure your clothes are well pressed. No crumpled outfits please!
2. Keep your fingernails short and clean.
3. Ensure your hair is tidy or styled.
4. Spray on abit of perfume to get rid of those "manly" scent
Communication
Do not talk excessively or be too quiet. Talking too much and asking too much questions might annoyed your date. Nevertheless, being too quiet on a date is no good too as it might bore your partner and may get them thinking: We don't have the same frequency is it?Talk about general topics like your pastimes, the recent movies you have just watched, your job (but please remember not to bore with excessive details)
Date Location
Choose a place where there is moderate human traffic or view so that when you run out of topics, you can observe the surrounding and come up with more conversations.
2. Unless you are really sure your date don't mind hot and stuffy hawker centres, always suggest comfortable restaurants for a long soothing meal. It need not be those expensive restuarants, just a nice environment will be good.
Eating etiquette
1. Gentlemen, remember to serve the ladies. Offer to share your portion of food if you have different orders. If you are sharing, remember to serve the lady 1st. Always look out for the lady and check if they want more of the food.
2. Gentlemen, pick up the tabs! Afterall, this is the first date.
3. Eat with minimum sound! And it is always polite to chew with your mouth closed and not to talk when your mouth is full. Always keep the serviette near so that you wont be appearing with a dirty mouth. Check your teeth to make sure there is no debrises stuck in your teeth.
